04 Sep You Know It’s The New Term When…
We all love ‘routine’ don’t we?
We mums always say how we miss the routine of term time when we don’t have it.
There are several things you can bet your blazer on happening in the first term back.
A massive craft project.
Come on mums, you’ve had nearly 7 weeks off your crafty duties so get collecting those empty loo rolls/yoghurt pots/cereal boxes and start a Pinterest board in anticipation of the far out projects the teachers are sat dreaming up over the last dregs of last-day gift wine.
Remember. This will be a tell tale sign of how good a parent you are so no slacking on the decoupage Susan!
See that nice richly coloured shiny new collection of cardigans in the wardrobe?
Stroke them lovingly because these will be lost/damaged/swapped/stolen in the first few weeks.
Oh you’ve put name labels in?
They may as well be written in Elfish.
Cardigans found will be slung into the generic lost property box and promptly taken by fellow pissed off mums that are also fed up of rooting in this bottomless Slaters graveyard.
By the end of week one, you will have parted with approximately £30 on various sundries. Trips, toast, visiting thingymybobs and for the really unlucky mums….a new jumper.
Lastly, you will be hit by how quickly the hours between 9 and 3 go and wonder why it felt thrice as long in the holidays.
Most of all you may notice that the house is hushed, fridge stays fuller longer, you get a good day and a half out of a toilet roll but also that a little part of your heart has detached somewhat only to return at the chime of the home time bell.
Have a great new term mums,
